New Students:

Materials to bring to your lesson:
  • A 1 inch 3-ring binder with five sections divided as follows:
    • Lesson
    • Technique
    • Theory
    • Music Legacies
    • My Compositions
  • Piano books
    • Beginners: your new method books
    • Transfer Students: The last books/pieces you played
  • Metronome (you don’t have to bring it to the lesson, but make sure you have one)
What to expect at the first lesson:
  • Beginners: We will spend some time getting to know each other and start learning about the piano
  • Transfer students: We will spend some time getting to know each other and finding out what you know with your technique, theory, and repertoire. Please come with a piece or two ready to play that you learned most recently. Also be ready to play any technique your previous teacher had you practicing. From there we will decide what books we will use.

Please just knock and walk right in when you come to your lesson.

Parents:

Please plan on attending at least the first lesson. If you have a young beginner, I may request that you come to every lesson so that you may help them practice correctly at home. This will help form good habits from the very beginning. Even with older students, please check in on their practicing to make sure that they are doing what is assigned. It may take a little bit of work on your part to help them remember to get their practicing done each day, please be ready for that. And, you are always welcome to attend your child’s private lessons
